Beryllium Copper Springs
When considering a spring for a corrosive environment, Beryllium Copper (BeCu) is an ideal choice for a spring alloy. Beryllium Coppers are also known as spring copper which has the best combination of electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance, and mechanical strength necessary for numerous electronic and electro-mechanical devices.
C25 Product Offerings:
Copper alloy springs are not compatible with ammonium hydroxides or nitric acids, which may include acid chromates, Ferric Sulfide, and Ferric Chloride. There are various grades of Beryllium Copper, however, the most common alloy in spring making is C25 which falls under UNS designation C17200. C25 is available in different spring types and forms including:
- Shaped Wire
- Bar Form with various cross-sections.
Attributes of C25 Copper Alloy Springs
C25’s high tensile strength properties relative to other copper alloys make it an ideal material for the engineer to design the smallest spring package possible when a copper alloy is required. Its fatigue strength also makes it an ideal material for cyclic applications. Another attribute of Beryllium Copper is it retains its ductility in cryogenic environments.

Industries Using Beryllium Copper Springs
Like other copper alloys its nonmagnetic properties are ideal for medical or industrial applications as it is commonly used in MRI equipment or in directional drilling equipment. Its conductive properties make it an ideal candidate for a variety of different industries including:
- Oil & Gas
Beryllium Copper C25 is not a one size fits all application, however, its combination of strength and corrosion-resistant properties makes it an ideal alloy for a significant amount of industrial uses.
